OUR STORY

1978 - The school first opened as the Montessori School of God's Delight for ages 2-6 in the basement of Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Oaklawn Ave. Sister Monica Marie Hibberd, O.S.U. served as director.

1981 - Through the generosity of the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity and Refuge, the Montessori School moved to the campus of Mount St. Michael with the encouragement Sister Mary Anne Tasker, O.L.C. and under the direction of Mr. Joshua Thompson.

1986 - Bishop Thomas Tschoepe gave the Christian Community of God’s Delight (CCGD) the "go ahead" to open Prince of Peace Christian School for the CCGD families seeking a school that would reinforce the spiritual and moral formation taking place in the home, while at the same time giving their children a strong academic foundation. Grades 1st – 4th were opened in the 1st year under the administration of Mrs. Dolores H. Costello. Each subsequent year grades were added until the initial 8th grade class graduated in 1990.  At that time, the school's name was changed to "Prince of Peace Community School" to reflect its direct relationship with CCGD.

1995 - Mount St. Michael Catholic School became a private school under the Catholic Diocese of Dallas along with Cistercian, Jesuit, and Ursuline at the request of Bishop Charles V. Grahmann, D.D.

1996 - The school received Provisional Accreditation from the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops Education Department (TCCED).

1999 - MSMCS was awarded full accreditation through Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops Education Department (TCCED).

2000 - 2001School began the transformation from a traditional curriculum to a Classical Curriculum.

2006 - 2007 Since the inception of Mount St. Michael Catholic School, two other schools with the name “Prince of Peace” began. In conjunction with our 20th  anniversary on September 2, the leadership made the decision to change the name of the school. Through a discernment process and approval by Bishop Charles Grahmann, on  July 1, 2007, the school was changed from Prince of Peace Christian School to Mount St. Michael Catholic School.

Today- Mount St. Michael Catholic School is the only accredited Catholic Montessori (3K-5K) and the only accredited Catholic Classical (1st-8th) school in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. It is also the only Catholic school in the area that offers daily Mass as an integral part of the school day.

Our graduates are successful in all of the Catholic high schools in Dallas, as well as other private and public high schools. We are honored to have several former students discerning vocations. We continue into a bright the future with our hope in the Lord remaining faithful to our uniquely personal, Catholic spirituality and witnessing to the Covenant of the Christian Community of God's Delight for our children and for those the Lord brings into our midst.
