Principal's Welcome

Welcome to the Mount St. Michael Catholic School website.  I appreciate your interest and consider it a privilege that you are considering us as a partner in the education of your children. The primary focus of this 3K-8th grade, co-educational Catholic school is the spiritual formation of our children through participation in the Sacraments, a life lived with Christ as our model, and the discovery of Truth through academic studies. We welcome those desiring such a focus to enroll their children.

Our Montessori program for the three to five-year-old has been in existence since 1978. It was formed on the philosophy and research of Dr. Maria Montessori, a Roman Catholic Italian physician. The MSM Montessori program addresses the learning of each child as the child passes through periods of learning “readiness”. The young child in this environment develops a sense of independence and responsibility for his own learning as the foundations for future learning are firmly planted.

The grade school began in 1986. Students in the first through eighth grades embark on an historical journey through a classical education. All literature, science, and mathematics come from an historical context. Students study Ancient Civilizations, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and Modern Times. Within this context they study American history as part of a global reality. The literature that the students read corresponds to these time periods. Composition is an essential component of classical studies. Students are taught to summarize and expand what they read, document what they observe, and narrate what they do in order to more clearly communicate truth. The classical curriculum is made complete through the study of Latin which provides a foundation for the study of one or many modern languages for the student graduating from MSM.

Goodness, truth, and beauty (the attributes of God) are interwoven throughout the life of our school. Students meet the Lord in daily Mass, monthly Reconciliation and Eucharistic Adoration, doctrinal classroom studies, the faith-filled faculty, and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (PK-6th) which leads the child to meditation and contemplation of the truths of our faith and the Scriptures.

  • 3 to 4 years old for Pre-Kindergarten Montessori
  • 5 years old for Kindergarten Montessori

Once again, thank you for your interest in Mount St. Michael Catholic School. We hope that this information is helpful to you in making a serious decision concerning your child’s future education and formation.

In Christ’s service,,
