Mount St. Michael Catholic School enters its twenty-fifth year with the 2010-2011 school year. The school first opened as the Montessori School of God's Delight for ages two through six in 1978 in the basement of Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Oak Llawn. Sister Monica Marie Hibberd, O.S.U. served as director. In September 1981, through the generosity of the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity and Refuge, the Montessori School moved to the campus of Mount St. Michael with the encouragement Sister Mary Anne Tasker, O.L.C. and under the direction of Mr. Joshua Thompson.

In September 1986, Bishop Thomas Tschoepe gave the Christian Community of God’s Delight (CCGD) the "go ahead" to open Prince of Peace Christian School for the CCGD families seeking a school that would reinforce the spiritual and moral formation taking place in the home while at the same time giving their children a strong academic foundation. Grades one through four were opened in the first year under the administration of Mrs. Dolores H. Costello. Each subsequent year grades were added until the initial eighth grade class graduated in 1990.  At that time the school's name was changed to "Prince of Peace Community School" to reflect its direct relationship with CCGD.

On May 11, 1995, Mount St. Michael Catholic School became a private school under the Catholic Diocese of Dallas along with Cistercian, Jesuit, and Ursuline at the request of Bishop Charles V. Grahmann, D.D.  In May 1996, the school received Provisional Accreditation from the Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops Education Department (TCCED). In 1999, the school was awarded full accreditation through TCCED.

The 2000-2001 school year began the transformation from a traditional curriculum to a Classical Curriculum. This curriculum in a faith-filled environment prepares students to think critically, problem solve creatively, choose ethically, and serve faithfully.

Since the inception of Mount St. Michael Catholic School two other schools with the name “Prince of Peace” began. In conjunction with our twentieth anniversary on September 2, 2006, in an effort to alleviate confusion, and in an effort to make it easier for families to learn of our enriching educational opportunities, the leadership made the decision to change the name of the school. Through a discernment process and approval by Bishop Charles Grahmann, the school’s name was changed to Mount St. Michael Catholic School as of July 1, 2007.

In the spring of 2009 the school participated in its dicennial re-accreditation.  The TCCED gave MSMCS outstanding ratings for its work as a Catholic educational entity.

Today, Mount St. Michael Catholic School is the only accredited Catholic Montessori (3K-5K) and the only accredited Catholic Classical (1st-8th) school in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. It is also the only Catholic school in the area that offers daily Mass as an integral part of the school day. Our graduates are successful in all of the Catholic high schools in Dallas as well as other private and public high schools. We are honored to have several former students discerning vocations and one as a sister with SOLT, Sisters of Our Lady of the Trinity. We continue into a bright the future with our hope in the Lord remaining faithful to our uniquely personal, Catholic spirituality and witnessing to the Covenant of the Christian Community of God's Delight for our children and for those the Lord brings into our midst.
