Principal's Welcome
principal professionalDear Parent,
I appreciate your interest in considering Mount St. Michael Catholic School as your partner in the education of your children.  Our primary focus is the child’s spiritual formation through participation in the Sacraments, a life lived with Christ as our model, and the discovery of Truth through academic studies.  Those desiring such a focus are invited to enroll.
The Montessori program for the three to five-year-old has been in existence since 1978.  It was formed on the philosophy and research of Dr. Maria Montessori, a Roman Catholic Italian physician.  The MSMCS Montessori program addresses the learning of each child passing through periods of learning “readiness”.  The young child in this environment firmly establishes a sense of independence and responsibility for personal learning as the foundation for future learning is firmly established.
The grade school began in 1986.  Students in the first through eighth grades embark on an historical journey through a classical curriculum.  All literature, science, and mathematics come from an historical context.  Students study Ancient Civilizations, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and Modern Times.  Within this context they study American history as part of a global reality.  Students read literature and study science that corresponds to these time periods.  Composition is an essential component of classical studies.  Students are taught to summarize and expand what they read, document what they observe, and narrate what they do in order to more clearly communicate truth.  The classical curriculum is made complete through the study of Latin which provides a foundation for the study of one or many modern languages for the student graduating from MSMCS.
Goodness, truth, and beauty (the attributes of God) are interwoven throughout the life of our school.  Students meet the Lord in daily Mass, monthly Reconciliation, and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, doctrinal classroom studies, the faith-filled faculty, and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.
Enclosed you will find instructions and paperwork necessary to complete the application and registration process for 2010-2011.  If at any time in the process you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my administrative assistant, Mrs. Doreen Dillier.
Registration will remain open as long as spaces are available.  If an opening does not exist in a class, a waiting list will be established.  Student admission will be offered in the following order pending fulfillment of other admission requirements:

  • Students of contributing/active members of the Christian Community of God’s Delight
  • Catholic, non-CCGD members

Mrs. Gretchen Montgomery, MCSL
